Accommodations

Participants may choose their accommodations on a first come, first served basis at Haus der Begegnung (basic fee), WIFI (basic fee), Weinhaus Wagner (add $150 per person - only doubles for couples available), or Gasthof Ohr (add $150 per person). Each hotel provides good breakfasts consisting of coffee, tea, cereal, milk, rolls, juice, fruit, yogurt, meats and cheeses. Single rooms in any of the hotels require a single supplement of $200.

Weinhaus Wagner is a delightful small guesthouse located in the Oberberg across from the Bergkirche with its wine cellar dating back to before the time of Haydn. Five lovely guestrooms designed for double occupancy for couples are named after the wines of the region. The quaint breakfast room and living area provide pleasant places to visit with friends. TV, hairdryer, radio.

Haus der Begegnung, a former monastery, was remodeled and modernized in 1999 with beautiful double rooms and private baths. Marble hallways, extended ceilings and distant views across the fields to the Hungarian border make this a delightfully satisfying place to live. Its location near the Bergkirche is another plus. Gasthof Ohr is an excellent four-star hotel located about five (long) blocks south of the Esterhazy Palace. It has one of the best restaurants in Northern Burgenland, meals range from moderate to expensive. Rooms are most like those one would normally find in the United States and are equipped with a phone, color television, and hairdryer. Internet available at additional cost. Elevators.

WIFI Hotel WIFI is a modern business hotel not far from the center of town with many single rooms. All rooms have a small refrigerator and comfortable arrangements even though the rooms are fairly simple. Elevator, internet, radio, TV, and room phone.

Costs

The Festival is offered to chorus members and observers at a basic fee of $1,295 at double occupancy.

This fee includes all housing (double occupancy, private bath/shower and toilet facilities) from the first evening of the Festival through the morning of the final day; daily breakfasts; four or five receptions, which include light food; bus transportation from the Vienna airport to Eisenstadt and return to the Vienna airport at the end of the Festival; local bus transportation and guided tours according to the official Festival itinerary; and all academic offerings of the Festival. There are optional day tours to significant historical sites, which are extra. The basic fee does not include air transportation to or from Vienna from the U.S., which must be arranged by each Festival participant or observer. Each choral singer is required to bring a choral score of each of the works to the festival, as these are not provided.
